ABOUT US
In 2017, Asa and Brenna were approached by board members at the Showboat Theatre about creating a program to help raise money to renovate the theatre. They decided to write a youth show and put on an educational summer camp. This grew to be an annual tradition, and as they learned more about theatre education, they strove to start their own youth theatre company. Now, Half Act is all about communication, exploration, and shining light on arts education as a whole. Our campers are given a completely unique experience as they produce a new original show and help staff members develop the most beneficial teaching techniques they can.
Now, we serve students ages 4-18 and have opportunities for artists of all ages. We also have community partnerships such as the Riverside Theatre Project, which allows our community members to perform alongside professional actors from St. Louis. We collaborate with local designers to make our shows look outstanding, and we perform for the whole community of Hermann on the Showboat's beautiful stage!
